What preparations are needed to send processed tuna and bonito products to the U.S.?
Processed tuna and bonito products are required to submit certification documents based on the Dolphin-Safe Certification System at import customs clearance in the United States. If you are unable to submit the certification, the import permit will not be granted. Please consult with the relevant food manufacturer before shipping.
What is the Dolphin-Safe Certification Program?
It is a system to certify that tuna and bonito in processed food products as defined by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as having been caught without damaging dolphins in a manner that meets dolphin-safe standards.
