Can lighters be shipped by FedEx?
No. Lighters are classified as Dangerous Goods (DG) or prohibited items for airfreight forwarding and are generally not accepted for carriage.
In order for us to accept such shipments, you must submit a separate document such as a "Cleaning Certificate" written in both Japanese and English, certifying and stating that the shipment does not fall under the category of Dangerous Goods or prohibited items. You must also write "NOT RESTRICTED" on the air waybill yourself.
Please note that if the shipment is determined to be DG or prohibited goods upon customs inspection after acceptance, it may be returned, stored, sold or disposed of, and the shipper may be billed for the cost of such actions.
