How do I obtain a prior notice confirmation number from the FDA, which is required when sending food products to the U.S.?
In order to send food products to the U.S., the exporter must file a prior notice with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), stating that the food products are to be exported to the U.S. The declaration is made online at the FDA website and a prior notice confirmation number (hereinafter referred to as "PNC#") will be issued.
Step 1
The following information is required when applying for a PNC# and should be prepared before accessing the FDA website.
- Shipper's information (company name and address)
- Recipient information (company name and address)
- Food manufacturer information (company name and address)
- Details of the food product (contents, quantity, packaging, processing method)
- FedEx international air waybill number
- Arrival date, time and airport code of your shipment's flight to the U.S. *Please confirm with customer service in advance.
Step 2
