Can I send canned seafood to the U.S.? If so, what preparations are necessary before shipping?
Canned seafood products are required to have the manufacturer's registration information at the time of import customs clearance in the U.S. Please confirm the following information with the manufacturer before shipping. Please be aware that missing or incomplete information may cause significant delays or denial of import clearance in the U.S.
Manufacturer's registration information
- 1Copy of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) - HACCP is a food hygiene control method. Manufacturers must be registered.
- FCE (Food Canning Establishment) number - FCE Registration is required by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and must be registered by the manufacturer.
- SID (Submission Identifier) number. SID is a process application authorization for sterilization conditions. It is required by the FDA and must be registered by the manufacturer.
