Hotline offers great rates and much more

Wouldn’t it be great if one of the tools available to your FedEx Authorized ShipCenter® (FASC) was a fast shipping discount finder? Good news: You already have that tool at your fingertips!

The FedEx® Great Rates Hotline can give you a big advantage, especially on international shipments. Eric Muramatsu, who owns the Box & Ship in Pasadena, California, is a preferred shipping provider for several auction houses — whose buyers often ship to Asia and Europe — thanks in part to the rates he can get via the hotline.

“The FedEx Great Rates Hotline opens up the international market for us and makes us extremely competitive against larger companies,” Eric says. “The pricing is great. The discounts fluctuate — it all depends on outbound capacity — but I can get as much as 70% or 80% off list prices.” Eric says his FASC now handles 10–20 international shipments per week. “Using the hotline has increased our international volume.”

The hotline has many features that can help your FASC offer competitive pricing and ship internationally.

Great rates (naturally)

Check for discounts on several FedEx Express® services — even for domestic U.S. shipments (though those discounts aren’t typically as deep).

Your quote will include any additional fees that might apply — such as a residential delivery charge or a no-stack fee (if there are pallets that can’t be stacked).

Hotline representatives will always make sure you’re getting the best available rate: If the FedEx account you’re using has a better discount than what’s available, they’ll let you know.

International shipping advice

Depending on what country you’re shipping to, the required forms can vary. Our reps can help you determine what documentation will be needed for the customer’s shipment.

If you’re unsure of the most economical way to package the shipment — whether dimensions affect the price, for example — the hotline can help with that as well.

Other assistance

Securing the quote is just the beginning! We can also schedule the pickup and provide a booking number (for freight shipments).

And if there’s ever an issue with an invoice, you or your customer can call the hotline for help determining why the discounted pricing wasn’t applied.

Here’s how it works

  1. Click or call. Just fill out the request form or call 1.877.463.7408. Have the FedEx Express account number, shipment origin and destination countries, weight, and dimensions handy.
  2. Get a quote. Our staff will offer the best discount rate available at the time for your shipment, along with a reference number for the quote. If you tell us you accept (or “lock in”) the rate, we’ll load it to the FedEx account.
  3. Ship. Complete your shipment the same way you normally would. Be sure to use the same account number you used to request the quote.

Pro tips

  • Should you click or call? It depends. If you submit the online form, you’ll get an emailed response — which can serve as an accurate record, making it easier to keep track of quotes. If you or your customer have questions, though, pick up the phone and talk to us.
  • The hotline is open 7 a.m.–7 p.m. Central time Monday–Friday. Got an urgent quote need after 6:30 p.m.? Give us a call. Online requests might get handled the next day.
  • The info you give us when you lock in the rate must match what’s on your air waybill: ZIP code, shipper, recipient, weight, dimensions and number of pieces.
  • Packages need to be at least 11 lbs. dimensionally to qualify.
  • Rates apply only to the date you say the shipment is going out.
  • The hotline can only help with shipments coming from or into the U.S.
  • Be aware that some things can change that are out of our control, like severe weather or volume restrictions from a specific country.
  • If your customer needs time to decide, you can call back later to lock in the rate. Just remember that quotes are subject to change if not immediately locked in, based on available space and fuel surcharge adjustments.
