3 ways FedEx helps you ship internationally
What do you do when a customer wants to ship their package to another country?
Maybe you’ve run into questions trying to process cross-border shipments — or hesitate to accept them at your FedEx Authorized ShipCenter®. Or, perhaps you’ve had success but don’t like the hassle of paper documentation.
Shipping to another country can feel overwhelming. And international rules and regulations can change: You’ve probably seen the headlines about the U.K.’s struggle to negotiate new trade agreements due to Brexit*, or the slow rollout of USMCA, the agreement between the U.S., Mexico and Canada that replaces NAFTA.
At FedEx, we work to simplify international shipping so you can serve your customers with confidence. Here are three resources that put up-to-date global shipping expertise at your fingertips.

FedEx® Global Trade Manager
This online resource makes it easy to access the information you need to ship internationally. FedEx Global Trade Manager includes tools to help you:
- Find international documents. Get help identifying the necessary documents for your customer’s international shipment.
- View shipping advisories. Check for important regulatory information specific to the package’s destination country (for instance, items prohibited from being shipped there).
- Estimate duties and taxes. Figure out the likely additional costs for the customer’s international shipment.
- Screen for denied parties. Make sure neither the sender nor receiver (whether a person or a company) has been denied international business transactions.
- Search for Harmonized Codes. If it’s a commercial shipment, use our tools to help determine the World Customs Organization (WCO) tariff classification for the product being shipped.

FedEx® Electronic Trade Documents
This simple, reliable online tool helps you transmit customs documentation electronically, so you avoid having to fill out paper documentation. It can also help your customers’ shipments avoid delays at customs.
FedEx Electronic Trade Documents lets you complete and submit customs documents without printing paper copies and placing them in the pouch attached to your shipment.
We strongly recommend this method because it cuts down on hassle and makes future problems less likely. But if you do choose to manually complete paper air waybills, remember to keep copies in the event of issues.
