Almost four decades after joining the company as a package handler, Scott Ray assumed his current role as president of Surface Operations in 2024.
Ray joined predecessor company RPS in 1987 and rapidly ascended in the organization through a series of management and leadership positions before becoming executive vice president and chief operating officer of FedEx Ground in 2022.
Throughout Ray’s career, engagement of his teams has always been front and center. He models the way in servant leadership and, recognizing the importance of deep
alignment across all functions, has played a significant role in increasing collaboration across the enterprise. At every level, Ray has demonstrated how teamwork and commitment can make Safety Above All, People-Service-Profit, Quality Driven Management, and the Purple Promise a reality for his teams.
Ray earned his bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University. He has received multiple awards from the company, including the President’s Club Award, Hub Manager of the Year, Region of the Year, the Human Resource Excellence Award, and the prestigious Five Star Award.
