As president of the Miami, Florida-based FedEx Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Division, Luiz Vasconcelos maintains overall responsibility for the region, which includes approximately 23,000 employees in more than 50 countries and territories. Vasconcelos’ primary focus is the broader strategic direction of U.S. International as well as magnifying the FedEx presence across the region. Furthermore, he is responsible for integrating the region into the FedEx global network, which serves more than 220 countries and territories worldwide.
In 2018, Vasconcelos was promoted to vice president of operations for FedEx Express in Brazil, where he led the company's planning and strategic activities and was responsible for overseeing all Brazilian operations, including logistics, ground, air, and international transportation services. Prior to joining FedEx, Vasconcelos held other leadership positions at Rapidão Cometa, a transportation and logistics company acquired by FedEx in 2012. Vasconcelos also held leadership positions in consulting, including Mergers & Acquisitions at Ernst & Young and vice president of corporate finance at Versailles Group in Boston, Massachusetts.
Vasconcelos holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Catholic University of Pernambuco in Recife, Brazil. He holds a specialization course in finance from Harvard University Extension School and an MBA from Northeastern University in Boston. Vasconcelos is also a two-time recipient of the FedEx Five Star Award, the company’s highest recognition for performance excellence.
Vasconcelos currently serves on the board of directors of Council of the Americas and CLADEC (Conference of Latin American and Caribbean Express Companies) and is the co-chair of the Trade Facilitation Working Group for the U.S.-Mexico CEO Dialogue, an organization founded by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Consejo Coordinador Empresarial to strengthen economic and commercial ties between the two countries.Â
