John Dietrich is executive vice president and chief financial officer of FedEx Corporation, where he oversees the corporation’s global financial functions. His responsibilities encompass strategic financial planning, corporate development, investor relations, treasury, tax, internal audit, accounting, and controls. He is also a member of FedEx’s eight-person executive committee, which plans and executes the corporation’s strategic business objectives.

With over 30 years of experience in the global aviation and air cargo industries, Dietrich brings a wealth of expertise to his





role. Before joining FedEx, he held several leadership positions at Atlas Air Worldwide, including president and chief executive officer, as well serving as a member of the board of directors. Dietrich was appointed president of Atlas Air Worldwide in 2019 and served as COO with responsibility for all aspects of the company’s global operations from 2006 until assuming the CEO position from 2020 to 2023.

After joining Atlas Air Worldwide in 1999 as associate general counsel, he was promoted to senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary in 2004. Dietrich also worked for United Airlines for 13 years, including seven as a litigation attorney, before joining Atlas.

Dietrich’s contributions to the industry extend beyond his corporate roles, as he currently serves as chairman of the National Defense Transportation Association, a director on the board of AAR Corporation, and a director of First Horizon Corporation. He is also a prior chairman of the National Air Carrier Association and a former member of the board of governors of the International Air Transport Association.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and a Doctor of Law, cum laude, from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law.
