Brian Philips
Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer – FedEx
President – FedEx Office
In 2023, Brian Philips stepped into his current role with more than 30 years of experience at FedEx. Today he serves as executive vice president, chief marketing and communications officer for FedEx, and president of FedEx Office.
Philips is responsible for managing the global FedEx brand and reputation, as well as driving revenue growth through strategic communications, customer engagement marketing, public affairs, citizenship, sponsorships, media relations, social media, and advertising.
He also leads the global FedEx Customer Experience (CE) organization of more than 11,000 team members who collaborate to create outstanding experiences for customers through FedEx's self-service and agent-enabled customer care channels, package research and recovery, packaging services, CE channel fraud security prevention and controls, as well as global systems, digital and insights.
As president of FedEx Office, a wholly owned subsidiary of FedEx, Philips has guided the company’s evolution from the corner copy shop into an unparalleled print production and transportation network.
E-commerce created a growing demand for convenient and flexible access to packages. Under Philips’ leadership, FedEx is meeting that demand with an ever-expanding network of retail locations, drop boxes, and on-campus locations at hotels, hospitals, convention centers, corporate facilities, and universities. FedEx Office’s creative design and print services, combined with its digital production capabilities, also fulfill the customized print needs of businesses large and small.
Philips joined FedEx in October 1993 in Service Development Marketing, launching new customer solutions and quickly advancing into positions of increasing responsibility. In 1996, he gained international operations experience as managing director of marketing for the Latin America and Caribbean division in Miami, Florida. In 2000, he served as vice president of U.S. marketing with responsibility for the entire marketing mix.
Philips was a lead on the FedEx acquisition and integration of Kinko's and its transformation into FedEx Office. In his first role at FedEx Office, he managed the company’s worldwide business performance as executive vice president and chief operating officer, a role that included operations, retail sales, marketing, and strategy.
Philips worked in the Marketing department of Kimberly Clark Corporation before joining FedEx.
A native of Toledo, Ohio, Philips graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and then earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Indiana University. He has served on the executive committee for the Dallas Regional Chamber and on the advisory boards for the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas and Teach for America, and he is an alumnus of the North Texas chapter of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO). Philips is also a member of the Maverick chapter of YPO Gold, and he has been actively involved in Make-A-Wish of North Texas.
