New all-electric FedEx vehicles are now operating in 13 cities across China.
Traffic restrictions limit vehicle access to parts of some Chinese cities, but electric vehicles are allowed in those places.
Jason Wang, Operations Manager, FedEx Express in Beijing told us, “Due to traffic restrictions, we have to stop some petrol vehicles in station. But for the electric vehicles, there is no limitation; they can go every day to service our customers.”
Each electric vehicle saves about 2,500 liters of fuel, and avoids about 6.7 tons of CO2 each year.
Wang said, “We can feel the change of the weather. We can see the sunshine. We can see the blue sky. Compared with one year ago – there was air pollution in Beijing, so I hope with more and more electric vehicles put into use, we can protect our environment.”
FedEx Express aims to increase vehicle efficiency by 50% by 2025. It’s all part of the FedEx commitment to shaping the future of global transportation.
