What is a Cubic Meter (CBM)?
Cubic Meter (CBM) meaning
CBM stands for Cubic meter, which is a unit of volume that measures how much space a shipment takes up on a ship, plane, or truck. This affects the transportation cost and chargeable weight.
How to calculate the CBM of your shipment?
Length (in meters) x Width (in meters) x Height (in meters) = CBM
You could also use a CBM calculator to calculate the cubic meters of your shipment. For various-sized shipping goods, calculate their volumes individually and then add them up.
Why is it important to correctly size your package?
Dimensional Weight shows how much space your package takes up compared to its actual weight. You are charged based on whichever is higher: dimensional weight or actual weight. So, using volume-based calculations helps you choose the right box size and calculate your shipping cost accurately.
How to convert Cubic Meter?
- Foot to meter: 1 foot = 0.3048 meters, so multiply 1 foot x 0.3048
- Inch to meter: 1 inch = 0.0254 meters, so multiply 1 inch x 0.0254
- Centimeter to meter: 1 centimeter = 0.01 meters, so multiply 1 x 0.01
*FedEx reserves the right to re-weigh and measure each package to verify the actual weight and dimensional weight provided by the sender. If the dimensional weight exceeds the actual weight, the package will be rated based on dimensional weight and subject to additional charges.
