Frequently Asked Questions
FedEx Import Tool is a one-stop web solution that gives you a free, fast and effortless way to manage import shipment clearance. You can actively manage and monitor your import shipments electronically at anytime – with or without a fedex.com user id and password.
There are two ways to access FedEx Import Tool:
- FedEx users can log in with their existing fedex.com user ID and password
- Users without a fedex.com user ID can log in with their email address or the mobile phone number associated with the shipment. A one-time verification code will be sent to your email address and/or mobile phone number to authenticate your identity.
FedEx Import Tool searches for additional shipments associated with your email address and/or mobile phone number apart from your fedex.com user ID. A one-time verification code is required to verify your identity for added security.
You must first register your importer profile via REGISTER IMPORTER PROFILE. You may access and view your import shipments in FedEx Import Tool with your registered email address or mobile phone number when the importer profile matches with your import shipments when clearance process is initiated.
Your laptop or desktop computer will need internet access and a web browser. Ensure your web browser is up to date for the best user experience. The FedEx Import Tool dashboard is best viewed on Google Chrome at 100% layout. At this time, FedEx Import Tool cannot be accessed through a mobile phone web browser.
Depending on the role you play for your shipment, you can view Taiwan, China import shipments associated with your login identity. You can view active shipments or shipments up to 90 days after date of pickup.
For Sender and Recipient: Your FedEx account or your email address and/or mobile phone number must match the record associated with the shipment.
For Importer: Your registered importer profile (i.e. email address and/or mobile phone number) must be associated with the import shipments when clearance process is initiated.
With FedEx Import Tool, you can:
- View clearance status of your import shipments
- Get notified on any incomplete clearance actions via email or mobile message
- Submit required customs clearance information
- Upload clearance documents and instructions on demand
- Download clearance-related documents

In the FedEx Import Tool dashboard, your import shipments will display one of the following statuses:
In Transit: Your shipment is on the way to its destination.
Clearance Action: Some customs clearance actions are required; users to complete pending documents or information.
Customs Cleared: Shipments have been cleared by customs at destination.
Depending on the nature of the clearance action, FedEx Import Tool will display an alert in its dashboard, and will also send a notification email and mobile message (either SMS or social media message) to either the shipment’s importer, recipient or sender. You can either click the link in the notification email or mobile message or login to FedEx Import Tool to submit the required clearance information.
Yes. You may login to FedEx Import Tool to access your shipment. Under the Clearance Instruction tab, you can provide and upload additional clearance data, documents or instructions.
For Sender and Recipient: You can submit clearance information in FedEx Import Tool after the shipment has been tendered to FedEx.
For Importer: You can submit clearance information in FedEx Import Tool when your importer profile matches with your import shipments after clearance process is initiated.
After clicking on the link in the customs clearance information request email or mobile message, the customs clearance information request page in FedEx Import Tool may no longer be active for a number of possible reasons:
The customs clearance information request has already been fulfilled;
The link has expired because no action was taken by the notification recipient; or
The shipment is going through customs clearance without further information required.
