Preparing for your move
Preparing for your move
The big move is just around the corner – TNT is switching to FedEx Express. That means you and your company will soon have a new shipment transportations services provider.
This guide aims to help you prepare for the move. We’ll give you key dates and details on what will happen at each stage, and information on your FedEx Express international rates and how you will be invoiced.
Our services comparison table shows you which FedEx Express services will replace your current TNT services. And the FAQs cover all aspects of the move and any other queries you may have.
Finally, we’d like to take this chance to welcome you to FedEx Express and look forward to your journey ahead with us.
Your key moments
Your switch over to FedEx Express will kick off with an email detailing two important dates – when your FedEx Express account will open and when your TNT account will be deactivated.
The point you start shipping with FedEx Express depends on how you typically book shipments. If you usually book through consignment notes, calling or with myTNT (TNT online tool), then you’ll be able to start shipping as soon as your FedEx Express account is open. However, if you book with other tools, your company will be informed when the relevant FedEx Express tools are ready for you to ship with.
For a short period of time, you can use both your TNT and FedEx Express accounts – this is to ease the switch over and give you time to get accustomed to your new shipping account. After this period, your TNT account will be deactivated and you’ll only be able to ship with FedEx Express.
Important dates
An email will be sent with two dates – when the FedEx Express account opens and when the TNT account will be switched off.
Account ready
When the account is ready, an email will be sent to those that ship in the company – the email will have a link to activate the FedEx Express account and create a password.
TNT account deactivated
There will be an email informing you when the TNT account is deactivated.
What we’ll manage for you
We’ll set up your FedEx Express account number.
If your company has a myTNT account, all the shipping data (except the shipping history) will be transferred to the FedEx Express account. This includes user information, company information, account associations and address book.
We’ll provide you with your personalized FedEx Express international rates.
Your checklist
When you ship with FedEx Express, you stand to benefit from our global coverage, quick booking and helpful tools, and gain access to a wide range of FedEx Express services and flexible delivery options. To make sure everything goes smoothly, we’ve compiled the things you need to do ahead of the move.
Tell those in your company who are involved in the shipping process about the move (shippers, invoicers etc) – those who have a myTNT account will be regularly updated, but it’s important to inform others as well.
This can take a while, so it’s important to start now and follow your businesses’ process to ensure FedEx Express invoices can be paid on time.
If you’re getting a FedEx Express account and will book shipments online, you’ll get an email with a link to activate the account and create a password.
If there are others in the company who need to use the online account, find out how to add them here.
That way, you can start shipping once your account is activated.
This online shipping tool helps you automate your entire shipping process. It can also support you on completing Air Waybills, commercial invoices or other customs documentation you could require. See here to find out more.
Note: You will need to use the new FedEx Ship Manager® to access the benefits, services and your personalized FedEx Express rates. If you switch to the previous version of FedEx Ship Manager® you will not be able to access these.
This needs to be ready for when you send your first shipment with FedEx Express.
Once your account has been activated, let your receivers know that you now ship with FedEx. That way, if their shipments require customs clearance, FedEx Express may call them for more information to clear their goods if necessary.
