Whether your shipments are heavy or lightweight, urgent or less time-sensitive, FedEx has a solution for you — with competitive rates for reliable services to get your shipments to their destination on time.
Rates below take effect 6 January 2025.
Value-added services and surcharges
Our value-added services let you customise FedEx services to your specific needs. Non-standard shipments or additional services may incur charges on top of standard transportation costs.
Value-added services and surcharges remain the same for 2025, except:
AHS-Weight
- Updated from £15/package to £30/package.
Applies to packages or pieces with actual weight greater than 31kg. (Packages over this weight require manual intervention to avoid crushing other packages or injuring employees.)
Dimensions
There are no changes, but we would like to remind you of our maximum allowable dimensions:
- Parcels: 274cm on the longest side, or 420cm in length and girth
- Freight: 302cm on the longest side
FedEx shipments exceeding these limits may not be accepted into our network and could be refused by the driver or returned to the sender. Even if your shipment meets the maximum allowable dimensions, other dimension-based surcharges such as AHS-Dimension, Oversize Charge, or AHS-Freight may still apply if relevant.
Contact Special Services to discuss possibilities for shipments that exceed our maximum allowable dimensions.
NOTE: We reserve the right to assess Additional Handling charges for packages or freight handling units that require special handling or that require FedEx to apply additional packaging during transit. To avoid AHS, please see our packaging guidelines.

Introduction of surcharges for Dangerous Goods transported via FedEx® Regional Economy and FedEx® Regional Economy Freight. For details, see Value-added services and surcharges (PDF).
Shipments picked up or delivered to remote and less accessible locations are assessed an Out-of-Pickup-Area (OPA) or Out-of-Delivery-Area (ODA) surcharge.
We are updating the postal codes where these surcharges apply.
- Current global postal code list (applicable until 12 January 2025)
- New postal codes (applicable from 13 January 2025)
Additional changes to value-added services and surcharges, effective 13 January 2025
- Packages that qualify for AHS – Dimension will be subject to 18 kg minimum billable weight.
IMPORTANT: If a FedEx package is subject to an Oversize Charge or AHS-Packaging, and also meets the criteria for AHS – Dimension, the minimum billable weight of 18 kg will still apply. This means that this condition is enforced even if AHS - Dimension itself is not charged.
Effective 13 January 2025, a charge of €1.35 per shipment is assessed on U.S. import shipments in connection with the processing of those shipments for clearance.
Ancillary clearance services
In early 2025, a new ancillary clearance charge called Disbursement Forwarding Fee will apply if third-party payor is selected for Duties and Taxes (D&T), and the payor is outside the destination country or territory. The fee is £15.00 or 2.5% of the D&T amount, whichever is higher.

Domestic Surcharges
Transportation costs may be affected by other additional surcharges due to the nature of the shipment. All surcharges are exclusive of VAT.
Declared Value, previously known as Enhanced transit liability (ETL). ETL will now be called ‘declared value’ on the shipping screen. It will be available on all services at £6 for each £1,000 of cover required. Carriage value gives you the option of paying for extra cover, for example if your shipment is lost, damaged or delayed. Find out more here.
Domestic Direct Signature Required
FedEx will obtain a signature from someone at the delivery address or reattempt delivery the following business day if no one is at the address. Read more here.
£2.00
Domestic Adult Signature Required
FedEx will obtain a signature from any person of legal adult age* at the delivery address.
£2.50
* Legal age will vary depending on the destination country and is governed by the local legal age of an adult, not the legal age to purchase specific products (i.e. alcohol). This delivery option is not available in all destination countries.
Shipments picked up from or delivered to remote and less accessible locations are assessed as Out-of-Pick-Up-Area (OPA) or Out-of-Delivery-Area (ODA) surcharge. Please refer to the list of postal codes or cities where this surcharge applies.
