FedEx Ground Brokerage-Inclusive Service
FedEx shipping tools default to the brokerage-inclusive service for FedEx International Ground™ shipments. With this service, FedEx processes your paperwork while the shipment is enroute to help facilitate customs clearance upon arrival.
When a shipment is processed as a brokerage-inclusive shipment and FedEx Ground arranges for customs clearance services, a clearance entry fee may be charged in addition to applicable duties and taxes.
Prior to Feb. 27, 2016, the payor of transportation charges was billed for the clearance entry fee and it was included on the transportation invoice. Effective Feb. 27, 2016, the payor of duties and taxes will be billed for the clearance entry fee, which will be added as an ancillary clearance service fee to the duty-and-tax invoice.
The Clearance Entry Fee is included as an ancillary clearance service fee on the duty-and-tax invoice. The shipper can request the sender, recipient or third party as the payor for duties and taxes. In the event the requested party does not pay, the shipper is ultimately responsible for all charges in connection with a shipment.

Where the sender is designated as the payor of duties and taxes, you can get a quote by using the Courtesy Rate Quote feature on FedEx Ship Manager™ after you enter all your shipment details. When processing your shipment, select FedEx Ground Brokerage-Inclusive Service. If the recipient or a third party is designated as the payor of duties and taxes, the Clearance Entry Fee will not be included in the rate quote.
You can also get a courtesy rate quote at fedex.ca. Simply click on the Shipping Menu and select Get Rates and Delivery Times. Select Get Detailed Quote and Include Clearance Entry Fee in Rate Quote. The Clearance Entry Fee will appear as a separate line item.
The Clearance Entry Fee will be included on the duty and taxes invoice and is billed to the payor requested by the shipper (sender, recipient or third party) . If a third party is selected as payor of duties and taxes along with the applicable Clearance Entry Fee, a valid FedEx account number must be provided.
If you are the requested party for payment of duties and taxes along with the associated Clearance Entry Fee and do not have a valid FedEx account number, you may choose one of the following options to process payment:
- Call FedEx Customer Service at 1.800.GoFedEx 1.800.463.3339
- Log in to your bank online and choose FedEx Express Canada from the Payee list. If you do not have a FedEx account number, use your invoice number (without dashes or spaces) as the account number.
- Mail your remittance advice with cheque (payable to Federal Express Canada Corporation) to the address on the remittance tab.
