Textile Entry Requirements
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced in a memorandum dated June 10, 2009 that the formal entry requirements for certain textiles have been amended. As a result of the elimination of quotas on merchandise from China, formal entries for certain textiles are no longer required.
The previous value of US$5 for a formal entry has been increased to US$250. A formal entry is still required for textiles exceeding US$250 and classified in certain sections of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
Note: A manufacturer identification code (MID) is required for all formal textile entries. For more information on MID requirements, including instructions on how to create a MID, visit the U.S. CBP website.
