FedEx Freight Direct Services Agreement
Delivery
1. Pickup at FedEx Freight Service Centre
a) Service centre customer pickup will include scheduled customer pickup at the FedEx Freight service centres at specified locations.
b) Line haul transportation must be provided by Carrier to the service centre.
c) Service centre customer pickup times will be Monday thru Friday until local close of business (varies by location), based on service centre discretion.
d) Service centres will load the item(s), and the Customer will be responsible for the transportation and security of the item(s).
2. FedEx Freight Direct Basic Delivery
a) FedEx Freight Direct Basic will include no appointment delivery of item(s) to ground level front door, driveway, dock, curbside or garage threshold, without a signature, as specified in consignee’s delivery instructions to the extent such delivery can be safely accomplished.
b) FedEx Freight Direct Basic will not include debris removal, inside delivery, any floor above or below ground level, stairs, or installation.
c) FedEx Freight Direct Basic may be provided by third-party vendors selected by FedEx Freight.
d) Shipments may be released without obtaining a signature. If a signature is required, select FedEx Freight Direct Basic by Appointment
3. FedEx Freight Direct Basic by Appointment Delivery
a) FedEx Freight Direct Basic by Appointment will include appointment delivery of item(s) to ground level front door, driveway, dock, curbside, or garage threshold, as specified in consignee’s delivery instructions to the extent such delivery can be safely accomplished.
b) FedEx Freight Direct Basic by Appointment will not include debris removal, inside delivery, any floor above or below ground level, stairs, or installation.
c) FedEx Freight Direct Basic by Appointment may be provided by third-party vendors selected by FedEx Freight.
d) In the event of a missed appointment by the consignee, FedEx may, in its sole discretion, contact the consignee to attempt to reschedule delivery or leave a door tag at the entrance with instructions on how to reschedule delivery. Additional charges may apply.
4. FedEx Freight Direct Standard Delivery (CA-US only)
a) FedEx Freight Direct Standard Delivery is available for Canada to US shipments only and will include delivery of item(s) to (i) the first available living space of the building; (ii) the backyard, garage, or patio; or (iii) curbside, as specified in consignee’s delivery instructions to the extent such delivery can be safely accomplished.
b) Delivery inside the building to a room or area that requires traversing indoor stairs will require an upgrade to FedEx Freight Direct Premium.
c) FedEx Freight Direct Standard will not include debris removal, any floor above or below ground level (beyond one flight of outdoor stairs), or installation.
d) FedEx Freight Direct Standard may be provided by third-party vendors selected by FedEx Freight.
e) In the event of a missed appointment by the consignee, FedEx may, in its sole discretion, contact the consignee to attempt to reschedule delivery or leave a door tag at the entrance with instructions on how to reschedule delivery. Additional charges may apply.
5. FedEx Freight Direct Premium Delivery (CA-US only)
a) FedEx Freight Direct Premium Delivery is available for Canada to US shipments only and will include (i) item(s) delivered into the building to the room of choice of the consignee to the extent such delivery can be safely accomplished and (ii) debris removal upon request. Debris removal will include 30 minutes of labour. Over 30 minutes of labour will incur FXF 100 Series Rules Tariff hourly labour charges.
b) FedEx Freight Direct Premium will not include any floor above or below ground level beyond two flights of outdoor or indoor stairs.
c) If Carrier or its vendor fails to provide selected FedEx Freight Direct Premium service, Carrier will either 1) return to the consignee location and complete FedEx Freight Direct Premium service; or 2) reduce Shipper or Payor charges to FedEx Freight Direct appropriate level of service excluding Basic.
d) FedEx Freight Direct Premium may be provided by third-party vendors selected by FedEx Freight.
e) In the event of a missed appointment by the consignee, FedEx may, in its sole discretion, contact the consignee to attempt to reschedule delivery or leave a door tag at the entrance with instructions on how to reschedule delivery. Additional charges may apply.

6. FedEx Freight Direct Returns Basic Pickup
a) FedEx Freight Direct Returns Basic Pickup will include a no appointment pickup and return of item(s) from the ground level front door, driveway, dock, curbside or garage threshold, as specified in shipper’s pickup instructions to the extent such pickup can be safely accomplished.
b) Pickup inside the building will require an upgrade to FedEx Freight Direct Returns Standard Pickup and is only available in the US.
c) FedEx Freight Direct Returns Basic Pickup will not include debris removal, repackaging, inside pickup, any floor above or below ground level, stairs, or uninstallation.
d) FedEx Freight Direct Returns Basic Pickup may be provided by third-party vendors selected by FedEx Freight.
e) Shipments may be picked up without obtaining a signature. If a signature is required, select FedEx Freight Direct Returns Basic by Appointment Pickup or FedEx Freight Direct Returns Standard Pickup (in the US only).
7. FedEx Freight Direct Returns Basic by Appointment Pickup
a) FedEx Freight Direct Returns Basic by Appointment Pickup will include an appointment pickup and return of item(s) from the ground level front door, driveway, dock, curbside or garage threshold, as specified in shipper’s pickup instructions to the extent such pickup can be safely accomplished.
b) Pickup inside the building will require an upgrade to FedEx Freight Direct Returns Standard Pickup and is available only in the US.
c) FedEx Freight Direct Returns Basic by Appointment Pickup will not include debris removal, repackaging, inside pickup, any floor above or below ground level, stairs, or uninstallation.
d) FedEx Freight Direct Returns Basic by Appointment Pickup may be provided by third-party vendors selected by FedEx Freight.
e) In the event of a missed appointment by the return sender, FedEx may, in its sole discretion, contact the consignee to attempt to reschedule pickup or leave a door tag at the entrance with instructions on how to reschedule pickup. Additional charges may apply.
8. FedEx Freight Direct Returns Standard Pickup (US to CA only)
a) FedEx Freight Direct Returns Standard Pickup is available in the US only and will include an appointment pickup and return of item(s) from (i) the first available living space of the building; (ii) the backyard, garage, or patio; or(iii) curbside, as specified in shipper’s pickup instructions to the extent such pickup can be safely accomplished.
b) FedEx Freight Direct Returns Standard Pickup will not include traversing indoor stairs.
c) FedEx Freight Direct Returns Standard Pickup will not include repackaging, or pickup from any floor above or below ground level (beyond one flight of outdoor stairs), or uninstallation.

9. Service Upgrade Requests
Delivery to the U.S. (Canada Outbound to U.S.)
The Shipper or Payor may request an upgrade to FedEx Freight Direct Premium service prior to a shipment going out for delivery in the US. The Shipper or Payor must approve all such requests in writing to the Carrier or the upgrade request will not be honored by Carrier. If the upgrade is approved by the Shipper or Payor, applicable charges for FedEx Freight Direct Premium service will apply to and be paid by the Shipper or Payor.
10. Rates
In addition to applicable linehaul charges, the following surcharge rates will apply (the surcharge rates below are assessed in CAD for Intra-Canada shipments and in USD for Canada to U.S. shipments):

11. Size and Weight Limit:
The following restrictions will apply:
a) FedEx Freight Direct Basic, FedEx Freight Direct Basic by Appointment, FedEx Freight Direct Returns Basic Pickup, and FedEx Freight Direct Returns Basic by Appointment Pickup (Canada Domestic, Canada Inbound and Canada Outbound to U.S.)
i. Maximum weight per handling unit/pallet: 907 kg / 2000 lbs.**
ii. Maximum dimensions per piece: 203 x 152 cm / 80 x 60 inches**
iii. Maximum height per piece: 190 cm / 75 inches
b) FedEx Freight Direct Standard and FedEx Freight Direct Returns Standard Pickup (Canada Outbound to U.S.)
i. Maximum weight per piece: 68 kg / 150 lbs.*
ii. Maximum dimensions per piece: 203 x 152 cm / 80 x 60 inches**
iii. Maximum height per piece: 190 cm / 75 inches
iv. Maximum weight per handling unit/pallet: 907 kg / 2000 lbs.**
c) FedEx Freight Direct Premium (Canada Outbound to U.S.)
i. Maximum weight per piece: 136 kg / 300 lbs.**
ii. Maximum dimensions per piece: 203 x 152 cm / 80 x 60 inches**
iii. Maximum height per piece: 190cm / 75 inches
iv. Maximum weight per handling unit/pallet: 907 kg / 2000 lbs.**
*For any FedEx Freight Direct Standard shipment where pieces exceed 150 lbs., the service selection will be upgraded to FedEx Freight Direct Premium with applicable charges to apply. Service available to US market only.
** Shipments exceeding the specified limits require prior written approval from Carrier before acceptance, are at Carrier's sole discretion and may require an upgrade in service and/or an additional charge. Service available to US market only.
12. Origin and Destination Zip/Postal Codes
FedEx Freight Direct Basic and FedEx Freight Direct Basic by Appointment delivery service shipments can originate from anywhere in Canada based on FedEx Freight coverage and be destined to a Consignee throughout the United States based on FedEx Freight coverage or to select postal codes in Canada as identified at [link to Canadian postal codes].
FedEx Freight Direct Returns Basic Pickup, and FedEx Freight Direct Returns Basic by Appointment Pickup shipments can originate from select postal codes in Canada as identified at [link to Canadian postal codes] or anywhere in the United States based on FedEx Freight coverage and be destined to a Consignee throughout Canada or the United States based on FedEx Freight coverage.
FedEx Freight Direct Standard and FedEx Freight Direct Premium delivery service shipments can originate from anywhere in Canada based on FedEx Freight coverage and be destined to a Consignee within an available zip code in the United States as identified at https://www.fedex.com/en-us/shipping/freight-services/ltl/freight-direct.html
FedEx Freight Direct Returns Standard Pickup shipments can originate from an available zip code in the United States as identified at https://www.fedex.com/en-us/shipping/freight-services/ltl/freight-direct.html and be destined to a Consignee throughout Canada or the United States based on FedEx Freight coverage.
Terms & Conditions
13. Liability
Carrier’s liability to a shipment during transportation shall be pursuant to Item 420 and/or Item 420-2B, as applicable, in the FedEx Freight 100 Series Rules Tariff. Further, the following provisions shall apply to Carrier’s liability for FedEx Freight Direct service:
a) Carrier’s liability for damage to product during set up will be the same as Carrier’s liability for loss, damage, or delay during shipment.
b) Carrier’s liability for failure to provide a FedEx Freight Direct service will be limited to the documented charges paid to Shipper by the Consignee / Return Sender or other party for the contracted FedEx Freight Direct service. Carrier shall not be liable for any damages, direct, indirect, or consequential, which are the result of delays in delivery.
c) Carrier shall have no liability for loss or damage to a FedEx Freight Direct Basic shipment after Carrier has delivered the shipment.
14. Claims
Any claim for loss, damage or delay from a Consignee / Return Sender must be made to the Shipper. Shipper should direct all Consignees / Return Senders to contact Shipper in the event of a claim. Carrier will not honour claims from a Consignee / Return Sender.
15. Restrictions
a) All FedEx Freight Direct Standard, FedEx Freight Premium shipments must be shipped via FedEx Freight® Priority service.
b) In addition to and without limiting the terms of the FXF 100 Series Rules Tariff, the FedEx Freight Direct Basic, FedEx Freight Direct Returns Basic Pickup, FedEx Freight Direct Returns Basic by Appointment Pickup, and FedEx Freight Direct Returns Standard Pickup services excludes shipments containing “Dangerous Goods,” as the term is used and defined in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, 1992 S.C. 1992, c. 34 Notwithstanding, Shipments of Limited Quantities not requiring Dangerous Goods shipping papers are permissible when properly tendered.
c) Waste or garbage for disposal, including, but not limited to dangerous goods, hazardous waste, household waste, industrial garbage, used medical equipment and medical waste are prohibited from FedEx Freight Direct services, including, but not limited to, Returns Services.
d) All articles listed as Prohibited or Restricted Articles in Item 780 of the FXF 100 Series Rules Tariff then in effect are prohibited from FedEx Freight Direct services.
e) Delivery and pickups may be altered if the driver cannot safely deliver or pickup a shipment due to circumstances such as, and including without limitation, steep incline and decline, gravel, dirt driveway, and entryway.
f) All shipments over 203 x 152 cm / 80 x 60 inches in dimension and / or 907 kg / 2,000 lbs. are prohibited without prior written approval from Carrier at its sole discretion.
g) Collect on Delivery shipments are prohibited from FedEx Freight Direct services.
16. Consignee Information
a) In addition to the Consignee delivery address, Shipper agrees to provide to Carrier contact information for the Consignee including a mobile phone number and/or email address.
b) By providing this information to Carrier, Shipper acknowledges that Carrier will contact the Consignee regarding the requested FedEx Freight Direct shipment/services.
c) Shipper agrees to comply with all applicable laws and regulations in collecting this information from the Consignee and providing it to Carrier.
17. FedEx Freight Direct Returns
a) Once delivery has been completed by Carrier, if a Consignee desires to return a shipment for any reason, it shall be Shipper’s responsibility to address any such return shipment request.
b) Return shipments requested to be performed by Carrier will be under a new bill of lading and governed by the FXF 100 Series Rules Tariff in effect at time of tender, apart from the transportation of the original shipment.
c) Shipper should direct all Consignees to contact Shipper in the event of a return shipment request.
d) Once the Shipper and Carrier agree a shipment can be returned, a return shipment is created under a new tracking number, a pickup is scheduled, with the original Consignee as the Return Sender.
e) All return shipments must be repackaged, palletized, and prepared for pickup by the Return Sender prior to arrival of Carrier.
f) Size and weight limits applicable to each FedEx Freight Direct delivery service also apply to the corresponding FedEx Freight Direct pickup service.
g) FedEx Freight reserves the right to refuse pickup of the shipment if packaging is deemed unsatisfactory or unsafe.
18. Post Delivery / Pickup Survey
Carrier may request completion of an electronic survey after completion of services to improve Carrier’s delivery and pickup performance.
19. Pre-built furniture (Canada Outbound to US only)
Assembled or pre-built furniture requires prior written approval from FedEx Freight before tendering for FedEx Freight Direct services.
20. Tariff
Except as otherwise provided herein, the FXF 100 Series Rules Tariff in effect on the date of shipment will apply to all FedEx Freight Direct shipments. In the event of a conflict between the FXF 100 Series Rules Tariff and this Services Agreement, this Services Agreement shall control.
21. SMS Texting Terms and Conditions
These terms and conditions apply to FedEx Freight Direct short code. Message and data rates may apply. If you have questions about your text or data plan, contact your wireless provider. Text “HELP” for help. Reply “STOP” to cancel or opt-out of the relevant service. Choose “OPT-IN” for SMS Notifications relating to a specific shipment. If you receive misdirected or erroneous message, you agree to text “STOP” to stop the relevant message stream. FedEx is not responsible for any damages resulting from SMS notifications sent or calls placed after a misdirected or erroneous message or call to which you fail to text “STOP” or otherwise notify us in writing to cease. The services may not be compatible with all cell phone models or carriers. FedEx is not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. FedEx is not liable for any messaging fees, data charges or other charges charged by your mobile carrier for your use of the services or for any loss or damage caused by your use of the services. FedEx is not liable for any service delay or failure or for any message receipt or delivery delays or failures. The services are provided on an “as is” basic, without any representations or warranties, expressed or implied.
