TNT is now FedEx
Your address details
When you create a shipment your address details will be prefilled, although you're free to change them. If you want to change the 'From' address details for all your shipments, click on your username at the top of the page and select 'My Profile.'
Residential address
When your shipment is delivered to a residential address a surcharge may be applied.
Notifications
You can add up to five email addresses to receive updates on the progress of your shipment. To add the recipients and set the email language, go to the 'To' section.
Pickup instructions
After selecting a shipping rate and choosing a pickup time window, you can add pickup instructions for the driver. The pickup and/or collection instructions part of your myTNT address book are not available in your FedEx shipping tool.
Alternative delivery address
For the time being, it's not possible to set up an alternative delivery address. However, you can request FedEx to invoice the transportation charges to a third party in the ‘Billing’ section.
If you used myTNT your address book contacts have been moved over to your FedEx account. You may notice some differences like:
You can search your address book using the contact name, company name or contact ID (called 'contact reference' in myTNT 2).
To manage your address book, click on your username at the top of the page and select 'Address book.'
myTNT makes no distinction between sender and recipient addresses; FedEx does. Your myTNT addresses have been moved over to FedEx as sender and recipient addresses.
Packaging
FedEx offers different packaging types than TNT. If you're using FedEx packaging, please select the type you’re using. If you're using your own, please select ‘your packaging.’ You can ship a maximum of 40 packages per shipment.
These are the TNT packaging types and the FedEx equivalents:
Envelope = FedEx® Envelope, your packaging
Box = One of the FedEx boxes, your packaging
Pallet = Your packaging
Weight and dimension
When creating a shipment, you must enter the weight of your package, but entering the dimensions is optional. If you enter the dimensions, FedEx will be able to give you a more accurate quote.
Declared Value for Carriage
Declared Value for Carriage is similar to, but not the same as, the myTNT service option called ‘enhanced liability.’
The Declared Value for Carriage of any package represents our maximum liability in connection with a shipment of that package including, but not limited to, any loss, damage, delay, misdelivery, non-delivery, misinformation, any failure to provide information, or misdelivery of information relating to the shipment. It’s the shipper’s responsibility to prove actual damages. Exposure to and risk of any loss in excess of the Declared Value for Carriage is assumed by the shipper. See the applicable FedEx Service Guide or Conditions of Carriage for details of FedEx Limits of Liability.
To help ensure your shipment passes through customs as quickly as possible, fill out your shipment details thoroughly. We'll use these details for pre-clearance, which takes place before your shipment arrives at customs.
Customs value
All international shipments must be cleared through customs. You must provide an accurate valuation of your items. This is so the duties, taxes and fees owed can be correctly determined.
Favorite articles
If you've stored favorite articles in myTNT, they'll be available through FedEx as well. You can find them as 'Saved items' when entering commodity information.
HS tariff code
When you’re filling out commodity (or item) details, you’ll be asked to enter a Harmonized System Code (also known as Customs Code). With TNT this was known as an ‘HS tariff code.’
