A shipment may require additional tariff classification if 1) it has one or more tariff classifications beyond the Free Lines limit in the published charges; or 2) An identical commodity was manufactured in more than one country; or 3) Multiple Commercial Invoices tendered to customs require an individual tariff classification for each invoice; or 4) You request a separate line entry for each item in the shipment.

Upon request, we can provide additional copies of your US import documentation via compact disc (CD)* or electronic data interchange (EDI). You'll receive a CD or an EDI transmission once per month with all entries compiled for the previous month. To utilize this service, you must 1) be approved by your customs agency to maintain entry records electronically, and 2) enroll in the Importer of Record service offered through the Special Brokerage Processing program. We will facilitate special entry procedures and/or obtain a certificate, as required, for entry of goods pursuant to Government Military Contracts, so that the importer can benefit from Duty-Free treatment.

We will process live entries, as required by customs, when an export license (visa) is mandated for imports.

Special Brokerage Processing is a program designed for customers with special compliance needs, offering a wide range of special handling services. The program allows you to become your own Importer of Record for greater control and visibility of your shipment's customs clearance journey. Other key benefits include dedicated support, a standard operating procedure (SOP) tailored to your unique business needs, and visibility to your import entries and a customer reporting tool via My Global Trade Data, among other service options. We may assess a storage fee if a shipment remains uncleared in the FedEx bonded facility beyond the time limit published in the charges.

We will provide additional processing, as required, for entry of commodities regulated by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATFE), including an Internal Revenue Service Tax Assessment and an audit to ensure the shipment has all required ATFE licenses and permits. Please note that some ATFE regulated items are not approved for FedEx shipping. Refer to the FedEx Express International Terms & Conditions for details.

We will file the Fish and Wildlife USFWS Form 3-177 (edec) and submit documents and permits to the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), as required, for entry of commodities that include living animals and/or products created from animals.

We will file information and obtain approval, as required, for entry of certain commercial goods, such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, computer monitors, laser CD players, cosmetics, eyeglasses, food and food products or other controlled products.

If required, we will send an advance notice on your behalf to the country Food and Drug Administration for food and drug products imported into or moving through the country. For import shipments, the Prior Notice fee is in addition to the existing country Food and Drug Administration Clearance fee for regulated food and drug products.

Broker Document Transfer gives you the flexibility to self-clear using your own customs-clearance department or use a Brokerage company other than FedEx to clear an inbound shipment, while we provide all paperwork to you or your selected broker.

Upon request, we will prepare the necessary transfer documentation and move your inbound shipment from the point of arrival to your specified location if you self-clear or use a Brokerage company other than FedEx to clear an inbound shipment.

We may disburse any applicable duties, taxes and other regulatory charges on your behalf, to ensure timely payment to the customs agency. The payer is responsible for the total amount disbursed, plus an additional fee as published in the charges.

When you request shipments to be imported on a temporary basis for a specified time, we will coordinate the importation process by advising, preparing, and filing the required documents as specified by Customs.
