     MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 31, 1997--Two FedEx crew members and three passengers evacuated safely early Thursday following an airline accident at Newark International Airport.
FedEx Flight 14, an MD-II, was en route from Anchorage, Alaska and was carrying international freight to be delivered in the United States.
The cause of the accident has not been determined. The National Transportation Safety Board and local law enforcement officers are coordinating the investigation.
The flight contained about 145,000 pounds of revenue payload, including less than 400 pounds of routine hazardous materials. FedEx provided the cargo manifest detailing the contents of the cargo to the proper authorities.
FedEx routinely transports hazardous materials and maintains an in-depth knowledge of all regulations governing these goods.
The five individuals aboard Flight 14, two crewmembers and three jumpseat passengers, were taken to Elizabeth (N.J.) General Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released. They are resting in the New Jersey area. The two crew members are:
