Sponsorship; FedEx renews multi-year deal with the National Football
League
Sports Editors/Business Editors
MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 4, 2003--FedEx Corp. (NYSE:
FDX), the world's premier global provider of transportation, logistics
and supply-chain management services, has renewed its sponsorship of
the National Football League (NFL) through 2006.
As part of this sponsorship, FedEx will remain the exclusive
"Official Delivery Service Sponsor" of the NFL, Super Bowl and Pro
Bowl. In addition, FedEx will significantly enhance its
industry-acclaimed FedEx Air & Ground promotional platform through the
creation of a new season-long campaign that honors the NFL's top
quarterbacks and running backs on a weekly basis through a fan voting
program. Each week of the regular season, fans will be asked who the
top performers were "on the ground" and "through the air." Fans can
participate by voting weekly in this FedEx Air & Ground promotion on
nfl.com. This campaign culminates at the Super Bowl, where the NFL's
top quarterback and running back will be given the FedEx Air & FedEx
Ground awards. FedEx will promote this campaign through an integrated
campaign that leverages nfl.com, USA Today, television, FedEx World
Service Centers, direct mail and more.
"The NFL has proven to be a great promotional vehicle to help us
communicate our total transportation solutions to a key audience,"
said Brian Philips, FedEx vice president of U.S. Marketing. "It is
through relationships with premier sports properties like the NFL that
we are able to interact with our customers on a very personal level."
