Sports Editors/Business Editors
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. & MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 4,
2003--FedEx Corporation (NYSE:FDX) and the PGA TOUR announced today a
comprehensive multi-channel campaign that will promote the legendary
reliability of FedEx with the tagline FedEx, The Most Reliable Player
in the Game. The campaign will focus on the theme of reliability and
will leverage a full range of media including TOUR television,
PGATOUR.COM, broadcast advertising and sponsorship of a season
highlights special on NBC-TV. FedEx is the "Official Shipping Company
of the PGA TOUR."
The new campaign, developed by FedEx and the TOUR, focuses on the
reliability needed to succeed in their respective businesses: A TOUR
player needs a reliable swing that can hold up under pressure, while
FedEx sets the standard for reliable shipping solutions in the
business world.
The theme will be highlighted on various TOUR mediums:
| | -- | The "FedEx Reliability Zone" includes vignettes in all
remaining episodes of Inside the PGA TOUR in 2003 and will
utilize statistics and ShotLink data related to the
reliability theme. Many vignettes will feature instructional
tips from TOUR members to help the average golfer develop a
more reliable game. FedEx also will advertise on Inside the
PGA TOUR, which airs weekly on The Golf Channel.
| | -- | FedEx will have consistent advertising presence this year on
TOURCast, the dynamic subscription application on PGATOUR.COM
that allows fans to graphically track every shot by every
player in every TOUR event, in real-time.
| | -- | FedEx is sponsoring the Pro Tips instructional arena on
PGATOUR.COM that will include its own page, plus a "FedEx
Reliability Zone" arena to support the Inside the PGA TOUR and
TOURCast presentations. FedEx also will have various
advertising banners on PGATOUR.COM.
| | -- | FedEx will be the presenting sponsor of a one-hour PGA TOUR
special on NBC that reviews the 2003 season. The year-end
program will showcase winners of annual PGA TOUR awards and
will highlight those who demonstrated extraordinary
reliability by finishing atop various statistical categories.
| | -- | An e-mail newsletter will link to the Pro Tips or FedEx
Reliability Zone pages on PGATOUR.COM.
| | -- | FedEx will also leverage the PGA TOUR relationship through
innovative sales, retail and promotional activities.

"FedEx has worked with the PGA TOUR to develop a comprehensive
marketing program to maximize our relationship and create a clear
connection to the FedEx brand," said Brian Philips, FedEx Corporate
Services vice president of U.S. Marketing. "Who better to compliment
the extraordinary reliability of the world's top golfers than FedEx?"
"This is one of the most integrated programs that has been
developed with a corporate marketing sponsor utilizing the TOUR's
various media resources," said Tom Wade, Chief Marketing Officer of
the PGA TOUR. "We are excited about the exposure and value it will
provide FedEx this year, and see this as a creative model for what we
can offer our corporate sponsors as we move forward."
The title sponsor of the FedEx St. Jude Classic in Memphis, TN,
since 1986, FedEx entered a four-year corporate sponsorship agreement
with the TOUR last year.
