MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 2, 2002--FedEx Corp.
(NYSE:FDX) has been honored by the Web Marketing Association for its
continued high standard of excellence in customer-facing technologies
through fedex.com. For the third consecutive year, FedEx has won the
Best Transportation Web Site Award in the Web Marketing Association's
2002 WebAwards.
FedEx also earned a Standard of Excellence award for the second
consecutive year for FedEx(R) Global Trade Manager(SM), a free,
Internet-based service on fedex.com that helps small- and medium-sized
businesses navigate the complex, fast-paced world of international
commerce.
The Best Transportation Web Site Award was awarded to FedEx
InSight(SM) (www.fedex.com/insight), a Web-based application that
offers proactive, real-time information on the status of inbound,
outbound and third-party FedEx Express shipments without entering a
tracking number. Launched in late 2001 for FedEx Express, FedEx
InSight is the next generation of tracking technology pioneered by
FedEx.
FedEx Global Trade Manager is a one-stop source of international
shipping tools and information that simplify many of the complexities
of global trade. Among its features is an Estimate Duties and Taxes
application that gives international shippers critical information
about charges and fees they can expect in the overseas shipping
process.
"These awards are proof of the steadfast commitment by FedEx to
provide innovative and easy-to-use technologies that offer our
customers clear competitive advantages," said Karen Rogers, FedEx vice
president of fedex.com and customer experience management. "FedEx has
leading online services to help small- and medium-size businesses
manage their businesses more effectively."
The award acknowledges FedEx as having the top Web site in the
industry in head-to-head comparison to other transportation companies.
The Web Marketing Association's WebAwards is an annual competition
that is designed to judge corporate Web sites against an Internet
standard and peer sites within respective industries. Judges for this
year's WebAward competition noted that FedEx InSight is a "very
intuitive and very clean tool that did a good job." More information
