Four FedEx Operating Companies Earn `Quest for Quality' Awards

MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 10, 2002--Four operating
companies of FedEx Corporation (NYSE:FDX) are recognized for their
dedication to exceptional service, reliability and on-time performance
in the 2002 Quest for Quality survey. FedEx Express, FedEx Ground,
FedEx Freight and FedEx Supply Chain Services were chosen as among the
best providers in their respective categories by readers of Logistics
Management & Distribution Report.

true service benefits customers receive from FedEx."
The Quest for Quality survey, the largest customer-satisfaction
study in the transportation and logistics field, reflects responses
from more than 3,000 buyers of transportation services across the
nation. Respondents rate carriers on five quality criteria: on-time
performance, value, customer service, information technology and
equipment and operations. Logistics service providers are judged based
upon carrier selection/negotiation, order fulfillment,
transportation/distribution, inventory management and logistics
information systems.
In the respective service categories:
| | -- | Memphis-based FedEx Express, the world's largest express
transportation company, earned the top spot among Air Express
Carriers, beating the competition for on-time service,
information technology, customer service and equipment &
operations. FedEx Express also held the number-one position
for Air Express Carriers in the Quest for Quality survey in
2000.
| | -- | FedEx Ground, North America's second-largest provider of
ground small-package delivery services based in Pittsburgh,
again won accolades in the Surface Package Carriers category
for the third consecutive year. FedEx Ground excelled in the
customer-service ratings.
| | -- | FedEx Supply Chain Services, a provider of transportation,
fulfillment and fleet management solutions, improved from
second place in 2001 to capture the top honor in the
Third-Party Logistics Providers category in this year's
survey. Headquartered in Memphis, FedEx Supply Chain Services
also operates an administrative center in Hudson, Ohio.

the reader's choice in the Multiregional/Interregional
Less-than-Truckload (LTL) category for the 17th consecutive
year, surpassing the competition by posting the highest marks
for all five quality criteria. Headquartered in Harrison,
Ark., FedEx Freight East provides direct all-points LTL
service in 40 states.

and the leading less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier providing
regional service to 13 western states, earned its 11th Quest
for Quality award in the Western Regional LTL Carrier
category. FedEx Freight West received the highest marks in the
category for its information technology. The company is
headquartered in San Jose, Calif.
