    Business Editors

MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 10, 2002--Four operating companies of FedEx Corporation (NYSE:FDX) are recognized for their dedication to exceptional service, reliability and on-time performance in the 2002 Quest for Quality survey. FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, FedEx Freight and FedEx Supply Chain Services were chosen as among the best providers in their respective categories by readers of Logistics Management & Distribution Report.

"FedEx Corporation companies are committed to providing the best portfolio of reliable, time-sensitive, innovative and efficient services to businesses of all sizes," said T. "The Quest for Quality honors are further validation of true service benefits customers receive from FedEx."
The Quest for Quality survey, the largest customer-satisfaction study in the transportation and logistics field, reflects responses from more than 3,000 buyers of transportation services across the nation. Respondents rate carriers on five quality criteria: on-time performance, value, customer service, information technology and equipment and operations. Logistics service providers are judged based upon carrier selection/negotiation, order fulfillment, transportation/distribution, inventory management and logistics information systems.

    In the respective service categories:

-- Memphis-based FedEx Express, the world's largest express transportation company, earned the top spot among Air Express Carriers, beating the competition for on-time service, information technology, customer service and equipment & operations. FedEx Express also held the number-one position for Air Express Carriers in the Quest for Quality survey in 2000.
-- FedEx Ground, North America's second-largest provider of ground small-package delivery services based in Pittsburgh, again won accolades in the Surface Package Carriers category for the third consecutive year. FedEx Ground excelled in the customer-service ratings.
-- FedEx Supply Chain Services, a provider of transportation, fulfillment and fleet management solutions, improved from second place in 2001 to capture the top honor in the Third-Party Logistics Providers category in this year's survey. Headquartered in Memphis, FedEx Supply Chain Services also operates an administrative center in Hudson, Ohio.
-- FedEx Freight East, an operating unit of FedEx Freight, was the reader's choice in the Multiregional/Interregional Less-than-Truckload (LTL) category for the 17th consecutive year, surpassing the competition by posting the highest marks for all five quality criteria. Headquartered in Harrison, Ark., FedEx Freight East provides direct all-points LTL service in 40 states.
-- FedEx Freight West, another operating unit of FedEx Freight and the leading less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier providing regional service to 13 western states, earned its 11th Quest for Quality award in the Western Regional LTL Carrier category.
