PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 30, 2001--FedEx Ground, an
operating unit of FedEx Corporation (NYSE:FDX), announced today the
promotions of Roman M. Hlutkowsky to vice president of operations
technology and system support, and Kenneth J. Spangler to vice
president of applications development, field systems. Both were most
recently managing directors.

and improve customer service, their leadership in these critical areas

After earning undergraduate and graduate degrees in Industrial
Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, Hlutkowsky has enjoyed
a 17-year career with the FedEx companies, focusing on applying
technology to automate field operations and improve customer
information. He has led the implementation of pickup and delivery data
collection and transmission systems that employ the latest scanning
technology, on-van computers and wireless communication networks.
Together these systems provide FedEx Ground's customers the most
detailed tracking information in the small-package ground shipping
market.
In his new role, Hlutkowsky will oversee the development,
deployment and support of technology and administrative processes in
field operations, including FedEx Home Delivery.
During his 11 years with FedEx Ground, Spangler has been primarily
responsible for the development and maintenance of all applications
that directly support field operations. He has a bachelor's degree in
Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh and more than 13
years experience in the field of Information Technology.
In his new position, Spangler will lead a team of information
technology professionals in ensuring the reliability and continuous
improvement of numerous mission-critical applications including
package sortation systems for FedEx Ground's nationwide network of 27
distribution hubs, as well as package data routing and scanning
software. His team will continue to serve as a collaborative partner
and vital technology link between the company's operations planning
and engineering functions and field operations, including FedEx Home
Delivery.
