( BW)(TN-FEDEX)(FDX) FedEx Express Enhances Fedex International
Priority Service for Exports to Europe; Accelerates Distribution and
Simplifies Export Process for Multiple-Recipient Shipments
Business Editors
MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 5, 2001--FedEx Express, a
subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE:FDX), announced a unique enhancement
to FedEx International Priority DirectDistribution(SM) (IPD) service
that enables shippers to consolidate multiple-recipient shipments
under one international air waybill, clear customs through a single
gateway as one consolidated shipment, and deliver to multiple
recipients in up to 12 different EU countries from the U.S. and many
points in Asia.
FedEx International Priority DirectDistribution Single Point of
Clearance simplifies the export process by requiring only one set of
paperwork and allowing for customs clearance through one point of
entry. This new enhancement can accelerate customers' distribution to
within two to four days and reduce order-to-delivery cycles by as much
as four to twelve days.
"Any company that produces goods in the US or Asia and wants to
reduce inventory carrying costs and speed up their product-to-market
cycle will benefit from this IPD service enhancement," said Carl
Asmus, vice president for global product marketing. "As new products
are developed and the need for faster cycles increases, customers will
look for the simplest, quickest means for making their products
available. IPD provides customers with that ability," said Asmus.
IPD offers the convenience of reliable package status tracking and
visibility with just one box-level tracking number, backed by
time-definite delivery and the FedEx Express money-back guarantee. The
FedEx information-intensive network and unparallel global
infrastructure enables FedEx Express to be the only express
transportation company to make this unique service available.
This new service enhancement will benefit manufacturers of
semiconductors, automotive parts, consumer electronics and durable
manufacturers as well as producers of apparel, toys, computers and
computer peripherals and pharmaceuticals.
Origin countries for IPD include: the US, China, Hong Kong,
Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore,
Thailand, and Taiwan. Destination countries are: Austria, Belgium,
Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the
Netherlands, Spain and the UK.
