MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 15, 2001--An all-new
advertising campaign by FedEx Corp. (NYSE:FDX), the world's premier
global provider of transportation services, launches today on network
and cable television. Five 30-second spots with the tagline, "Don't
worry. There's a FedEx for that,"(SM) will highlight the broad
portfolio of shipping solutions offered by FedEx.
Created by BBDO New York, the campaign theme is consistent with
each ad and features the same, two small-business employees bantering
about an office situation. In each story, they describe how FedEx was
used in a wide variety of business situations that demonstrate the
extensive service offerings of the FedEx family of companies. The ads
feature the offbeat humor that has made FedEx ads memorable while
targeting today's small- and medium-sized businesses.
Services and customer convenience features highlighted in the
creative executions include FedEx Ground, FedEx Express, international
service to more than 210 countries, the unmatched shipping and
tracking capabilities of fedex.com and the extensive FedEx Express
retail and drop box network.
"This advertising campaign, geared toward small- and medium-sized
businesses, retains the flavor of past FedEx campaigns while going in
a unique creative direction," said Brian Philips, FedEx vice president
of U.S. Marketing. "The ads allows us to highlight the broad portfolio
of services offered by FedEx while providing a consistent, memorable
theme."
The acclaimed director Joe Pytka directed the FedEx campaign.
Pytka has directed many award winning advertising spots for IBM,
Pepsi, Nike, HBO and others as well as the feature film Space Jam
starring Michael Jordan. He is the recipient of numerous awards
including Emmys, Clios, Cannes, Lions and One Show trophies.
Demonstrating FedEx's reach and reliability by sketching
entertaining caricatures of the business world has been the strategy
of some of the company's best-known ad campaigns, including the Effie
Award-winning "Absolutely, Positively Overnight" ads (1978-83), "It's
not Just a Package, It's Your Business" (1987-88), "Our Most Important
Package is Yours" (1991-94), "Absolutely, Positively Anytime" (1995),
"The Way the World Works," (1996 - 1998), the Emmy nominated "Be
Absolutely Sure," (1998 - 2000), "This is a Job for FedEx," (2001).
BBDO New York has been the advertising agency of record for FedEx
for 12 years. It is the flagship office of BBDO Worldwide, the third
largest global agency network with 323 offices in 76 countries and
annual billings of more than $14.9 billion.
