( BW)(TN-FEDEX-EXPRESS)(FDX) FedEx Express Prepares to Resume Air
Operations
Business Editors
MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 13, 2001--FedEx Express
(NYSE:FDX) is repositioning its aircraft this morning as airports open
and plans to begin air operations this afternoon. We are optimistic
that we will be able to resume near normal operations tomorrow to the
extent that safety precautions and regulatory agencies allow.
All other operating companies, FedEx Ground, FedEx Custom Critical
and FedEx Freight, are operating normally with the exception of
portions of Manhattan and Washington, DC.
We appreciate our customers' support and understanding as we have
continued to move their shipments by truck. We have continued to scan
all packages so that customers are able to track the status of their
shipments. Some FedEx Express shipments may continue to experience
delays until we are permitted to put our air network fully in place.
FedEx Express and FedEx Ground are making pickups and deliveries
except in those areas in Manhattan and Washington, DC where access
continues to be restricted. We are unable to predict when services to
and from Manhattan will be resumed. FedEx Express Money Back Guarantee
will be reinstated once operations return to normal.
FedEx Express air and ground networks within Asia, Europe and
parts of Latin America are currently operating. However, only limited
transborder operations between the U.S., Canada and Mexico are
occurring at present. Flights to and from the U.S. will be reinstated
when permitted by the FAA.
We are tremendously proud of our employees' efforts in response to
this tragedy. Employees have kept important shipments -- vital to the
global economy -- moving as efficiently as possible through our
network. In addition, there has been an outpouring of concern from
FedEx employees anxious to help in any way possible.
With annual revenues of $20 billion, FedEx Corp. is the premier
global provider of transportation, e-commerce and supply chain
management services. The company offers integrated business solutions
through a network of subsidiaries operating independently, including
FedEx Express, the world's largest express transportation company;
FedEx Ground, North America's second largest provider of small-package
ground delivery service; FedEx Freight, a leading provider of regional
less-than-truckload freight services; FedEx Custom Critical, the
world's largest provider of expedited time-critical shipments; and
FedEx Trade Networks, a provider of customs brokerage, consulting,
information technology and trade facilitation solutions.
