The new name more closely aligns the company to its parent organization, FDX Logistics, Inc., which is one of the major subsidiaries of the $17 billion holding company, FDX Corp. "The renaming of Caliber Logistics culminates several months of restructuring designed to strengthen our organization and extend our contract logistics services on a global basis," said Joseph C. McCarty, chief executive officer of FDX Logistics. "Caliber Logistics was one of the pioneers in the contract logistics industry, and now we've refined our strategic direction to ensure that we continue to provide our customers with highly effective supply chain solutions that enable them to better compete in today's global marketplace." As part of a strategic alignment, FDX Supply Chain Services will focus on three distinct service offerings:
1. Transportation Management Services, including inbound and
outbound mode management on a global, national, or regional
scale.
2. Integrated Services, combining transportation management services
in conjunction with dedicated transportation, facilities
management, or value-added services such as returns management,
sequencing, postponement, and merge-in-transit.
3. Consulting and Professional Services, including the analysis and
design of supply chain and distribution operations to optimize
performance.
