    SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 11, 1999--Viking Freight, Inc., the leading LTL (less-than-truckload) carrier providing western regional transportation service and a subsidiary of FDX Corp. (NYSE:FDX), has named John Boreni to the position of director of computer services.
    In this newly created position Boreni will report directly to Viking's vice president of information technology. Boreni will have strategic and tactical responsibility for several functional areas: computer operations; systems administration; PC and network services; telecommunications; and helpdesk support.

    Boreni comes to Viking with more than 20 years of information technology experience. He spent the majority of those years with National Semiconductor in a variety of senior management roles including IT planning, data center management, world-wide network planning, telecommunications, and other corporate infrastructure functions.
    His experience also includes two years at Adobe Systems as the director of worldwide information technology operations.
