( BW)(CALIBER-LOGISTICS/MSAS)(FDX) MSAS and Caliber Logistics Name Levy and Ohlweiler Alliance Managers

    HUDSON, Ohio and BURLINGAME, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Nov. 19, 1998--Caliber Logistics, Inc. and MSAS Global Logistics have appointed Jim Ohlweiler and Jerry Levy to lead their strategic alliance that will offer customers a combined source of logistics solutions that meets their needs around the globe. As part of the agreement that was announced in August, Ohlweiler and Levy are responsible for the coordination of information management technology, and sales and marketing efforts for the alliance.
    Levy previously served as vice president of logistics for MSAS, a position in which he leveraged MSAS' strong logistics services with other third-party providers and developed new capabilities to offer MSAS customers a comprehensive global logistics portfolio. Levy was also responsible for expanding MSAS' market presence through warehousing and distribution, international air and ocean transport, as well as computerized tracking and management reporting.
    Prior to joining MSAS, Levy served as U.S. marketing manager for trade and transportation at General Electric Information Services (GEIS), as well as holding the position of marketing services manager at the company. His other career experience includes sales, intermodal and consumer marketing positions with Consolidated Rail Corporation (CONRAIL).
    Levy earned a bachelor of arts degree in marketing at the University of Georgia and an MBA at Mercer University in Atlanta. He is a member of the Council for Logistics Management, the American Trucking Association (ATA) Information Technology Council and ATA's Sales and Marketing Council.
    Ohlweiler has more than 20 years of industry experience in systems and telecommunications. He joined Caliber Logistics in 1997 after working for Circle International in San Francisco as vice president of information services. Prior to that he worked as vice president of management information systems at PLM International in San Francisco.
    His other career experience includes consulting for Quotron Systems, Inc., a subsidiary of Citicorp, in Culver City, California; director of technology for Citicorp Management Logistics, Inc., in Concord, California; and senior development manager for Leaseway Transportation Corp. Ohlweiler holds a bachelor of arts degree from Kent State University and an MBA from Ohio State University.
