    MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 15, 1998--FDX Corp. (NYSE:FDX) today announced that Joseph C. McCarty has been promoted to the position of Chief Executive Officer of the company's Caliber Logistics Inc. subsidiary which will become part of a new organization to be named FDX Global Logistics. McCarty will also become CEO of the new organization.
    McCarty is currently the Chief Administrative Officer of FDX Corp. Previously he has served as President of both the Latin American and Asia Pacific divisions of Federal Express Corp. Thomas I. Escott, President of Caliber Logistics Inc., will become President of the North American operation of the logistics company.
