Non-Resident Importer Program for Canada
The FedEx Trade Networks Non-Resident Importer (NRI) program enables U.S. shippers, who in most cases do not have a physical presence in Canada, to act as the Importer of Record for all of their shipments to Canada. As such, U.S. shippers are responsible for all charges — clearance entry fees, duties and taxes, ancillary fees, and shipping charges.
The NRI program benefits U.S. companies that would like to sell goods to Canadian customers based on a total landed price — thereby reducing the chance of costly returns — and clear shipments as a consolidation rather than as individual pieces, resulting in simplified paperwork and reduced brokerage fees.
In essence, a non-resident importer is both the exporter from the U.S. and the Importer of Record into Canada. For more information, call 1.866.463.8682 or send an e-mail to nri@ftn.fedex.com.
