The FedEx Express® fuel surcharge is based on the spot price for jet fuel and applies to all FedEx Express services except FedEx® International Express Freight. FedEx has adopted a fuel surcharge calculation method for FedEx Express services based on the fuel price published monthly by the U.S. Department of Energy.
Effective January 5, 2009, the company is adjusting its fuel surcharge index downward. Under the adjusted surcharge, FedEx Express will change the trigger price for the surcharge to $1.30, which will reduce the FedEx Express surcharge levels by 2%.
Changes to the FedEx Express and FedEx Ground® fuel surcharges will be applied effective the first Monday of each month. The surcharge percentage will be reflected on your FedEx invoice. Information on the fuel surcharge for each month will be available approximately two weeks before the surcharge is applicable.
For FedEx Express shipments, the related fuel surcharge is assessed on the net shipment rate plus applicable transportation-related surcharges. The applicable transportation-related surcharges are as follows: Extended Service Area surcharge, Saturday delivery and Saturday pickup.
For FedEx Ground shipments, fuel surcharges are assessed on net package rate plus applicable transportation-related surcharges including electronic call tag, manual call tag, oversize and unauthorized oversize packages, residential delivery, and rural delivery.
Fuel surcharge percentages and associated trigger points are subject to change without notice. If the fuel surcharge rises above 15.50% for FedEx Express or there are changes to the trigger points, the table below will be updated.
The surcharge percentage for FedEx Ground services are subject to monthly adjustment based on a rounded average of the national U.S. on-highway average price for a gallon of diesel fuel.
Fuel surcharge percentages and associated trigger points are subject to change without notice. If the Fuel Surcharge rises above 6.75% for FedEx Ground or there are changes to the trigger points, the table below will be updated.
