- How can I determine whether a location is residential?
A residence is a home, including a business operating out of home, that does not have an entrance open to the public. Residential locations are not determined by the recipient information or by the neighbourhood in which the building is located.
- What intra-Canada services will be affected by the new Residential Delivery Release program?
The Residential Delivery program applies to the following FedEx Express services: FedEx® First Overnight, FedEx® Priority Overnight and FedEx® 2Day.
- Will the FedEx Express courier attempt to obtain a signature for a residential delivery before releasing the shipment?
Yes, the FedEx Express courier will attempt to get a signature before releasing your shipment. However, if no one is there to sign for your shipment, we will release your package without obtaining a signature.
- Will FedEx Express leave my package in a secure area?
FedEx Express will leave your package in a secure area (i.e. out of public view, protected from inclement weather, inaccessible to pets or other animals and in an easy-to-locate area for the recipient).
- What shipments are excluded from the Residential Release program?
The following are examples of shipments that FedEx will not release without obtaining a signature. These types of shipments are excluded from the Residential Delivery Release program:

Shipments that are damaged.

Shipments that contain dangerous goods.

Shipments where the address has been corrected.

Shipments where the delivery location or circumstances are unsuitable for unattended delivery as determined in our sole discretion.

No, the policy for FedEx Express shipments to nonresidential (commercial) addresses is not changing. FedEx will attempt to obtain signature from someone at the delivery address or a neighbouring address.

No, the Residential Delivery Release program does not apply to international shipments.
