FedEx Express® International Broker Select


Customs clearance is included with every FedEx Express international shipment, but you also have the option to use your own broker.

For FedEx® International Priority and FedEx® International Economy service shipments, you have the option of using your own broker for shipments to more than 120 countries, including the U.S. FedEx will tender your shipment to your broker and, at your request, resume the delivery to the final destination. For added flexibility, you may list an unlimited number of commodities per air waybill.

To use your own broker: 
  • Use FedEx Ship Manager™ at fedex.ca, and choose the Broker-Select option under Special Services. You will then be prompted to enter your broker information.
  • Simply specify the broker's name on the Expanded Service International Air Waybill.
  • Check the broker selection box on the air waybill.

FedEx International Ground™ - Select Your Own Broker


If you want to use your own broker for customs clearance, simply choose the Broker Select option in the Special Services section of FedEx Ship Manager™ at fedex.ca, while creating your shipping label.

To enter your broker, simply follow the steps below:

Step A: After entering service and package details on your FedEx Ship Manager™ at fedex.ca ship screen, choose the Broker Select option in the Special Services section of the ship screen. [This section will expand automatically once you have selected FedEx International Ground service and entered package details.]

Step B: You will be prompted to enter your broker’s information. FedEx Ship Manager™ at fedex.ca supports a customizable database for storing broker information, thereby eliminating the need to repeatedly enter broker information for subsequent shipments.

Note: Unless you enter broker information using the Broker Select option, FedEx Ground® will arrange for the clearance of the shipment and applicable charges will be reflected on your transportation invoice.



How to Use the Broker Select Option in FedEx Ship Manager™ at fedex.ca


Using the Broker Select Option

1. Go to fedex.ca and log into FedEx Ship Manager™ at fedex.ca.

2. Complete sections 1 through 3 and go to the Special Services (optional) section.

3. View the alert message that displays. It states the following:

Alert: Unless you select a broker using the Broker Select option, FedEx Ground will arrange for the clearance of this shipment and applicable charges will be reflected on the transportation invoice.

Check the Broker Select box. This box will expand once selected.

Enter your broker's details.

Note: mandatory fields are 'Broker company name' and 'Phone no'.

Complete your shipment.

Your FedEx® paperwork will indicate that your shipment was created using the Broker Select service.

 

Setting Broker Select Preferences


You can set a preference to default all your international shipments to Broker Select.

1. Go to fedex.ca and log into FedEx Ship Manager™ at fedex.ca.

2. Click the Preferences link.
 

3. Go to the Special Services section.

4. Check the Always use Broker Select option box and enter your broker's address details, or select one of your saved broker addresses from the address book.

5. Click the Save changes button.

Note: Going forward, each time that you create an international FedEx Express® or FedEx Ground® shipment, the Broker Select option will be automatically enabled.

Creating and Saving Broker Addresses


You may also save your broker address in your Address book at fedex.ca.

1. Go to fedex.ca and log into FedEx Ship Manager™ at fedex.ca.

2. Click the My Lists tab and select the Address Book option.

 

3. Click the Create Address button.

4. Click the Save as dropdown menu at the bottom of the screen and select Broker.

5. Enter your broker’s details.

6. Click the Save button.

Note: Going forward, each time that you create an international FedEx Express or FedEx Ground shipment to the country where your broker is located, you will be able to select the Broker Select option.
